August the Wolf

August is a mystery and always has been. If she cuddles with you whether it's next to you or has gone to the extent to laying ON you...then she LOVES you and that my friends is hard to come by.  She reminds me of a fox or an aloof cat who doesn't want to be touched and keeps to herself. As beautiful as she is, you want to pet her and be near her but that's not what she has in mind. If you touch her legs, she's unhappy, if you touch her back feet she's unhappy, if you touch her back she's unhappy. Ha ha She is very much a lone wolf. Now, Travis and I love the moment she jumps up on the couch and buries her nose into our lap to snuggle because these moments are in fact rare. She'll lick you and be affectionate but to touch you with her back, feet or whole body is an honor. She is alpha of the four dogs and she knows it.

As a pup we socialized August and brought her into our home in hopes to befriend Nanook. From a very young age she showed signs of wolf like behavior being very distant and independent.

We held her constantly and she enjoyed it when it was us but no one else.

Travis and I fell in love with here beautiful eyes and gorgeous features.

She got used the camera very quickly with mom around. lol.

She loved the outdoors and smelling what scents blew in the wind. Her nose will sometimes twitch to catch a scent blowing by.

We love having a "mini wolf" in the house.

How tolerable she is even when being used as a scarf :)

smile!

She can be kind of awkward at times but that's just why we love her so much! She always seems to have this look of anger on her face when irritated lol.

And we will continue to love her til the day she turns to be an old lady.

Tons of love for this girl. She adores Travis.

Perching herself for a better view of some squirrels. (Her favorite)

When she was about 8 months old I bought a soft toy carrot. It squeaked and I expected it to be destroyed in 5 mins once in the door. She treated this toys like a baby, protecting it, very destroying it. I then bought a little ghost we called "boo". Since the carrot and ghost any soft toy has been her "boo" or her baby. She loves them so much and will make you play fetch for as long as you nudge the toy off the couch where she lays it.

The tiger bone is her newest "boo". Travis is not amused haha.

How gorgeous. As aloof as she is we love that she has a soft spot for her "humans". She's always looking to please us in one way or the next whether it's a trick for a treat or just a loving kiss. Our mini Wolf.
