Nanook the Polar Bear. Or as Travis calls him "Nanook of the North!" He was the best Christmas present Travis has ever given me.
Nanook is one in a million. He is the snuggliest, most gentle soul of our bunch. Since a baby he has always preferred to lounge around and be your source of warmth.
When I wake up in the mornings he's always begging for a few more minutes of sleep before rising for the day.
A typical Spitz has long bushy hair but we like to keep him shorter to create a "bear" look and he enjoys being cooler in the summer time.
Nanook is a very smart dog. He knows how to dance, high-five, high-ten, lay down, play dead, freeze, spin, jump!, sit, speak, and even close doors!
Since a pup Nanook has had very sensitive skin, stomach, pretty much sensitive everything.
A lot of foods has caused him to get very sick and with the skin condition he has he will bruise VERY easily causing red and purple marks all over his body beyond his normal cow print skin. The first time this was noticed, we rushed him to the vet thinking it was internal bleeding.
From a young age he knew the word "Squirrel" and it was his favorite toy. Still is to this day I keep back up squirrels in a toy drawer just in case he's eager to play!
We view Nanook as our baby boy even though he is technically the oldest. He sleeps in our bed with us every night and will always have a spot next to us on the couch. He's always going to have a soft heart towards his "humans".
We tend to give him a little extra attention to make up for the fact that he is at the bottom of the totem pole in our pack. He is the weakest and will let the others pick on him. That's the way nature falls and if he wont stick up for himself then there is nothing we can do to control that other than try to build up his confidence with "special one on one time."
If the bedroom door is closed and the couches are full, he'll find something soft to lay on. that's for sure.
Nanook loves the sun! Being outdoors is one of his favorite activities.
You can always find him taking a long nap.
Daddy time is the best.
After 3.7 years and 3 other brothers/sisters added to the pack, he's still the same lovable goober we fell in love with.
I strive to be the mom he knows I am. He treats me like a superhero and when I'm sad he's the first to know it and come over to lick my cheek. He has the soul of an angel.
Our handsome boy.
